Meet Our Leaders

Kirrily Dear faim, gaicd

From serving burgers at aged 14, to globally advising companies on competitive advantage, I have invested more than 30 years of my life into mastering business strategy.

As a child the only thing that could distract me from adventure was the opportunity to earn pocket money in my father's business. I longed for the day when I could enter the workforce and make 'real money'. My first paycheck was earned at 14 years old serving burgers at McDonald's for $3.12 an hour. To me it felt like I had won the lottery, but what proved most valuable was the learning I gained into business systems and the leverage used to drive business success. Clearly, during this phase the entrepreneur inside me also gained traction. Within 18 months I had increased my hourly rate by 600% through working those systems smarter.

Since then I have enjoyed a long career as a business strategist, working with private and public companies - business-to-consumer, business-to-business, and not-for-profit organisations - in Australia, North America, UK, Europe and New Zealand. I have assisted in the growth of organisations across all major industry sectors including heavy industry, construction, professional services, retail and health.

In 2000 I founded Eyes Wide Open, Australia's first integrated consultancy combining strategy, marketing and management services to give businesses a single-source support platform for driving business growth. Since then we have supported over 400 businesses across 80 sectors to set and deliver their business strategy.

My driving passion is to achieve innovation and social change as a thought-leader, strategy consultant, marketer and non-executive director.

Stand out roles in recent years include;

  • Two years on the board of The Australian Institute of Management (NSW / ACT), an organisation that supports, nurtures and develops management professionals through programs on leadership, practice management, marketing and strategic planning
  • Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
  • Non-executive director of Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH)
  • I actively advocate for social change; she recently ran 860 kilometres in 12 days to raise the awareness of domestic violence in rural NSW
  • I am the founder of Run Against Violence, a member-based organisation that promotes community engagement in family violence prevention across Australia.

In 2015 a documentary was made about Kirrily's running achievements.
